SAN BIAGIO
Abruzzo, land of great wines and true people. Here we are on the Controguerra hills, between the sea and the mountains, where the Fiore family has been producing wines with a sunny and elegant soul for at least 20 years, fruits of a land that has always been respected. “Our story begins in the 1980s. At the time, wine was not part of our thoughts, we were one of the first companies in Italy to revive, after years of abandonment, the cultivation of ancient cereals, first of all spelled, but also the Saragolla, the Solina, embracing organic, natural and sustainable agriculture from the very beginning.”

From travel around the world to natural wines: Jacopo Fiore and the Abruzzo avant-garde
The company is located in Controguerra, on the Teramane Hills, a border town between Abruzzo and Marche, 300 meters above sea level, a few kilometers as the crow flies from the Adriatic coast, but with the Gran Sasso and the Gemelli Mountains well in seen behind him. The influence of the sea and the rigidity of the mountain currents create the ideal climate for the ripening of the typical grapes of their region: Trebbiano, Malvasia, Passerina and Pecorino, as well as obviously the undisputed king of Abruzzo, Montepulciano. The vineyards grow on clayey-limestone soil, the company has been organically managed since the early 1980s, when the main activity was the cultivation of ancient cereals and olive groves. The Agriturismo was also born in 1994, in 2000 the cellar was built
and the first bottles began to be produced, in addition to the purchase of an oil mill and a small mill to directly transform all the agricultural production independently. Since 2014, Jacopo, now thirty years old, returns home and concentrates on cultivating the vineyard and refining cellar practices, with the aim of improving its general quality through an increasingly natural approach. Today all wines are spontaneously fermented, they are not filtered or clarified, only a slight addition of sulphites at bottling. The search for purity and elegance, as well as the freshness of the fruit and drink in the basic line, depth and structure for the most important line, distinguish Jacopo’s research.
